Hive Realtime

Hive Realtime sends messages to browsers and mobile apps the moment something happens: live dashboards, chat, notifications, “who’s online”, collaborative editing, order tracking.

Your server sends an event to a channel; every client subscribed to that channel gets it instantly over a WebSocket.

It speaks the Pusher Channels protocol, so you use the libraries you already know: pusher-js, Laravel Echo, and the Pusher server libraries for Node.js, PHP, Python, Go, Ruby and more. Already on Pusher? Change the host and keys; your code stays the same.

Channels Public, private, private encrypted and presence
Client libraries pusher-js (web, React Native), Laravel Echo, any Pusher-compatible client
Server libraries Any official Pusher server library
Extras Client events, user sign-in and messages to one user, webhooks, a live debug console
Regions Every DockHive region; an app lives in the region you pick
Free plan 2 apps, 100 connections at once and 200,000 messages a day, per region
  1. Create an app in the console (Hive Realtime > New app) and pick the region closest to your users.
  2. Connect your frontend with pusher-js (or Laravel Echo) using the app’s key and host.
  3. Send events from your server with a Pusher server library using the app ID, key, secret and host.
