Pricing and allowances
Hive Buckets has no request fees and uploads are free. You pay for what you store and what you download beyond your plan’s allowance.
Allowances by plan
Section titled “Allowances by plan”| Free Tier | Developer Plan ($3/month) | Pro Plan ($15/month) | Scale Plan | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Storage included | 5 GB | 25 GB | 250 GB | Custom |
| Downloads (egress) | 10 GB / month for buckets | Counts toward the plan’s bandwidth: 100 GB / month | Counts toward the plan’s bandwidth: 500 GB / month | Custom |

| Buckets | 10 | 25 | 100 | Custom |
On paid plans, bandwidth is one allowance shared by all your products (apps, databases, tunnels and buckets). See Usage, overage and bandwidth.
Overage rates (paid plans)
Section titled “Overage rates (paid plans)”| Metric | Rate |
|---|---|
| Storage beyond the included amount | $0.02 per GB-month |
| Downloads (egress) beyond the bandwidth allowance | $0.02 per GB |
| Uploads (ingress) | Free |
| Requests | Free |
1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes.
Free Tier
Section titled “Free Tier”The Free Tier is never billed. Its limits are hard:
- Once you store 5 GB, new uploads are refused until you delete files or upgrade.
- Once your buckets have served 10 GB of downloads in a month, further downloads are refused until the next month or until you upgrade.
Pay as you go
Section titled “Pay as you go”With Pay as you go, the first 5 GB of storage is free; storage beyond that costs $0.02 per GB-month, paid from your credits. Downloads are charged at the bandwidth rate.
If your prepaid credit runs out and your account is suspended, uploads and downloads are paused until you top up. You can still list and delete files.
How usage is measured
Section titled “How usage is measured”- Storage is measured every hour and averaged over the month (GB-months). Every stored object counts, including noncurrent versions and parts of unfinished multipart uploads.
- Faster reads in this region, when turned on for a bucket, keeps an extra copy of that bucket’s files that is billed as storage, roughly doubling the bucket’s stored size. See Endpoints and regions.
- Downloads (egress) are the bytes sent out of Hive Buckets: downloads with access keys, presigned URLs and public links, all billed to the bucket owner.
- Failed requests aren’t counted.
Your storage and downloads appear on the Billing & Payment page with your other usage.
Example
Section titled “Example”On the Developer Plan you store 40 GB on average for the month and serve 30 GB of downloads, while your apps use 80 GB of bandwidth:
- Storage: 40 GB − 25 GB included = 15 GB × $0.02 = $0.30
- Bandwidth: 30 + 80 = 110 GB − 100 GB included = 10 GB × $0.02 = $0.20
- Total for the month: $3 plan + $0.50 overage = $3.50
