Hive Buckets: S3-compatible object storage

Section titled “Hive Buckets: S3-compatible object storage”

2026-10-11. Hive Buckets is live: S3-compatible object storage at https://s3.dockhive.io, with regional endpoints. Use the AWS CLI, boto3, the AWS SDK for JavaScript, Laravel, Django or any S3 tool. Buckets are private by default, with public buckets, presigned URLs, CORS, versioning, object lock, bucket policies and lifecycle rules. Your files are encrypted and stored across multiple regions, so a whole region can go down without losing data. No request fees, and uploads are free. Start with the quickstart and see Pricing and allowances.

2026-10-11. DockHive now runs in seven regions: us, eu, asia, africa, de, ng and, newest, pt (Portugal, Lisbon). Apps, databases, n8n workspaces, HivePods and tunnels are available there too: pick pt in the console, use --region pt with hivepod or dockhive expose, or send X-Region: pt to the API. See Regions.

2026-10-10. API host is now api.dockhive.io: all API requests go to https://api.dockhive.io/api/v1. The old host gw.dockhive.sh stops accepting public API calls on 2026-10-17, so update any scripts, CI jobs and integrations that call it. Update your CLIs too: hivepod 0.4.3 and dockhive 0.2.5 use the new host by default and move a saved old address over for you. See Using the API.

2026-10-10. DockHive now runs in six regions: us, eu, asia, africa, de and, newest, ng (Nigeria, Lagos). Apps, databases, n8n workspaces, HivePods and tunnels are available there too: pick ng in the console, use --region ng with hivepod or dockhive expose, or send X-Region: ng to the API. See Regions.

  • Background jobs: hivepod exec --detach runs long commands in a pod, for up to 6 hours. They keep running when you disconnect. hivepod job status --follow streams a job and exits with its exit code, so it’s ready for CI. See CI/CD to a pod.
  • Temporary files on the data volume: TMPDIR and the npm and pip caches now live in /home/hivepod/data, so pip, npm and native builds no longer fail on /tmp.
  • Real limits inside a pod: run hivepod-info to see your pod’s CPU, memory and disk. free and df show the whole machine. hivepod status shows disk used against the pod’s size.
  • Disk sizes are enforced: a pod more than 10% over its size is stopped until you free space. See Disk usage.
  • ~/.ssh is kept when the pod is re-created, and the CLI says clearly what applying settings resets. See Files, limits and environment.
  • hivepod deploy --region puts a new app in the region you choose, for example next to its pod.
  • The CLI retries temporary errors on safe requests, and error messages now include the HTTP status and a request id.

Database firewall: default deny, visible and app-aware

Section titled “Database firewall: default deny, visible and app-aware”

Databases are never reachable before their firewall is in place, and DockHive re-checks every database’s rules every minute. A database that any internet address can reach now carries a red Open to the internet badge in the console, hivepod db list and the MCP tools. You can allow your own apps and pods in the database’s region by name (they keep access when redeployed), manage the firewall with hivepod db firewall, and let AI agents manage it through MCP. Viewers and read-only API keys can no longer read database passwords. See Firewall and allowlist.

A new way to pay with no monthly fee: top up prepaid credits and pay only for usage beyond the free allowances. See Pay as you go.

These docs replace the old documentation. Hive proposals, the node-provider program and Seacure Weave are retired; see Deprecated and legacy.

DockHive now runs in five regions: us, eu, asia, africa and, newest, de (Frankfurt). Apps, databases, n8n workspaces, HivePods and tunnels are available in all of them, and your plan’s limits count across all regions combined. See Regions.

A custom domain can belong to only one app or pod, is only routed after its TXT record checks out, and an unverified claim lapses after 72 hours. Root domains use ALIAS, ANAME or flattened CNAME records. See Custom domains.

Addresses that aren’t connected to anything now show Nothing is live here, and apps that aren’t responding show This app is unreachable right now, across apps, workspaces, pods and tunnels. See what they mean in Limits and troubleshooting.

  • Automatic region failover that keeps your URL (--no-failover to opt out).
  • dockhive doctor checks your sign-in, regions and local app.
  • --log and --log-level for connection logs.
  • Sign in with an API key (dockhive login --token, DOCKHIVE_TOKEN).
  • Tunnels appear in the console under Tunnels.

See DockHive Tunnel.

Drone tells you when code isn’t a web app (and doesn’t charge build minutes for it), lists the environment variables your app needs, and can check your code before you deploy.

Bandwidth is measured across apps, databases, n8n workspaces, HivePods and tunnels, with one allowance per plan. See Usage, overage and bandwidth.

Email verification for every new account, bot protection on sign-up and sign-in, and API keys with read-only scope. See Account security.

Drone, DockHive’s AI deploy agent, is live: pick it when you create an app and it reads your code, builds your app and deploys it, fixing problems along the way. See Drone and frameworks.

The hivepod CLI deploys a folder with hivepod deploy, and hivepod mcp lets Claude Code, Cursor and other MCP clients deploy and manage DockHive for you. See CLI and MCP.

Turn on GitHub auto-deploy and every push to your branch goes live, with status on the commit. See Push to deploy.
